Oh my god, are exams still not over yet? UGH. Everyone's so boring when they're studying and sitting exams and I just want the term to be over already!
Summer hols are SO close, I don't think I can wait for them much longer!!

If you didn't come to the musical tonight then you'd better come tomorrow or Sunday! I think it went super tonight. There were only a couple missed lines and none of them were that important anyway, but nobody missed an entrance or anything! Which is great. I think it's just going to get better, especially since now we're getting used to really performing it. A show isn't really a show until you do it in front of an audience!

Oh, hold on, though, first I have to tell you all that sorry, I am actually trying to ruin all of your lives. The people in the Slambook are totally right about me, I never knew there were people in this school with so much insight! If I'm not friends with you, then I pretty much have it in for you. If I haven't made your life horrible yet, don't worry, I'll get to you. This is all part of my plan to eventually run the Wizarding World with a bunch of my friends and make the rest of you enslaved and miserable pawns and labourers. So just so you can get ready. Honestly I'm being really nice right now, usually I'm a horrible and twisted person who just wants to see people suffer, but I thought I'd give you some warning since the suffering is pretty intense. Okay, that's all! Come see the musical.

It's important that you know that Elsie Belby and I are both sitting together in the same place, not writing in our journals while we watch comments supposedly written by Elsie show up in the Slambook. We don't know who's writing them but it isn't Elsie, and personally I think it's kind of pathetic, whoever it is who's decided to be so nasty to Staci shouldn't try to pass it off on Elsie. They're friends, and you're a jerk.

Okay so - I've apparently been way more distracted by this Octavius disaster than I thought, but that's okay because I am moving on. I'm not talking to Octavius unless I absolutely have to. Personally I doubt any of you would want to, either.
I also don't think we should be talking to Deirdre, who is apparently dating TREMLETT if you can believe it! I can't believe I didn't know -- I knew she supposedly liked him a while back but I didn't know anything came of it because it was just so crazy that I thought she went mad for a fortnight and was going to get over it. Anyway, I don't really plan on talking to her for a while, dating Tremlett is so unacceptable. Besides the fact that he's way (and I mean WAY) below her status, he's also a jerk. And rather unattractive. She could do so much better, and I just don't feel comfortable associating with her when she's willingly spending her time with him.
I'm concerned about Heather, too. If she actually starts dating Basil Watson, there's going to be such a problem. He's nice enough, and he looks better with his hair short, but he's still... well, you know. I think we should be cautious around her for now. Things could go very badly very quickly if she isn't careful, and it might be easier to pull away if we're already watching out for it.
Oh, and Jessie? Your blonde hair is way better than Deirdre's. So is yours, Anastasia. This is, like, not even a contest.

Why doesn't Octavius care?? Why is he making such a stupid decision? Doesn't he care at all about how what he's doing affects other people? I mean, we're his friends and in Anastasia's case his family and he's still deciding to -- I can't even believe it.
I don't know what to do about it, either. I thought I might embarrass them or something but that was a disaster (and now I have detention, GOD, Emmeline is such a bint) and I just don't know what to do anymore. Octavius is sliding down into something gross and throwing away everything he's worked to have and why don't people seem to care?? Why doesn't he care that he's ruining his future?
And he's just... talking to MacFarlan on the journals like it doesn't even matter.
I don't want to have to lose him but I don't know what else I can do! He's not listening to me or Anastasia at all. All I can think of is to hope that his parents step in and take action where we can't.
He... the other day said something that basically meant he didn't want to be friends anymore, that he like didn't even care about fitting in at all, but what idiot would say something like that?

So, Hogwarts, I have news! A gossip update, I guess you could say! I thought about looking around for the Slambook, but then I realised, half the school doesn't trust most of what's in there (or at least they claim they don't), and I'm so tired of people speculating and then saying "Oh, but it's just the Slambook, it's not true" when it very well might be, so I decided just to write what I know and what I've heard without trying to hide the source of the news. That's so 1989. And I can tell you what's true and what's rumour, and there will be no more annoying doubting.
First, news I know for certain fact is true because I learned it right from the source:
Queers MacFarlan and Pepper are back together, despite all the reasons most rational and normal people have said they shouldn't be, and word is the Slambook rumours about the sex are true. Who's surprised? Not me. They've got to be shagging if they'd rather be together than get anywhere in life, yeah? Obviously. So spill, boys -- who's the top then? Or do you take turns? Any kinks? Do you cuddle afterwards, smoke a fag (I bet you can all guess the humour in that!)? Have you dragged anyone else into your little love bed, or is it just you so far? Got your eyes on anyone? Know about any other queers in school? As the resident homosexuals you have a duty to spread the word, so that us poor girls can know who we shouldn't be fancying and so the normal boys can make sure they don't accidentally encourage anything they're not really into. I suppose the same goes for any lezzers you might happen to know about.
Another fact is that Professors Sprout and Fairweather both missed their classes this morning, and Fairweather is yet to be seen even though Sprout's apparently showed up again. Some rumours say they were, you know, involved, but that's both way too gross to think about and way unlikely (hello, have you met Professor Fairweather? And then Professor Sprout? So not happening!!) Most of the rumours say Fairweather's been fired! Nobody's sure what for yet, but it's looking likely -- a first year said Professor Snape substituted for Fairweather and said he wasn't coming back, and of course there's the curse, so we all knew he wasn't staying, we just didn't know it was because he was getting fired. Pity, he's still way dishy.
Anyone know more about this Fairweather story? I'm afraid that's the end of what I know.

So rehearsals for the musical are super fun. The music is hard but being Cinderella is really fun. She runs around in a ball gown, and I get to fake-trip on stage and all sorts of fabulous things. And she - oh, no actually, I shouldn't spoil it for you! Anyway, I think the ball gown is going to be silver or silver and gold or something like that, which is going to be great and I look so good in those colours will look so fantastic. I'm so excited!
I think you're doing a fine job, Haysel, I really believe you as the Baker's Wife and our scenes together are fun. And Anastasia, you are so great as Rapunzel, seriously, I wish I had more scenes with you. You guys aren't the only ones who seem to be doing really well - I think this show is going to be really good, you guys!
So like, we don't have that much more than a month left of school and I totally can't wait until it's over. I want to go home and lie on the beach! Seriously. It's finally warming up but this is so not enough. I miss Kent, and I want to get out of this stuffy castle. I think maybe I can get my parents to take me to Paris or maybe southern France like Aix-en-Provence or something, or maybe Barcelona. I've been to Paris but I've never been to Barcelona, I bet it'd be so fun. I heard that the Spanish take naps in the afternoon and then stay out all night, which sounds way cooler than what we do here.

Being at home is SO much better than being at school. I don't think I could have spent another five minutes there! It's so cold and dreary and professors never stop talking about work and tests, and we don't even have big tests this year, it's so stupid.
But I hope everyone had a happy Easter! You know what Easter means: Only a couple more months until school is out, and then summer hols. I so cannot wait.

WELL, the play went quite well, if I do say so myself. The acting was lovely, and I definitely should congratulate our friends in charge of costumes and make up for making everyone look just fantastic!
Happy birthday again to Staci and Barry! I hope it was excellent.
I so cannot wait for Easter Hols, though. I'm going home to Kent where it's far warmer than here, and some of you should totally come visit me! We can hang out on the beach and stuff.
OH! And Gryffindor, congratulations on the win a couple weekends ago! Pretty much exactly what Slytherin needed It was a pretty fun game to watch. Heather and Staci, your Squad looked particularly sharp. Can't wait for the next game!

Look. Chances are, we don't like each other anyway. There's nothing wrong with that. Nobody ever said we all had to get along. So is it really fair to use that mutual dislike to insult me? Just because we aren't friends doesn't mean you have the right to call me a name and act as though I'm incapable of being nice. That obviously isn't the case, and just because I'm not nice to you (probably because you aren't nice to me) doesn't mean that I'm some kind of monster with no feelings who only wants to manipulate other people. I don't pretend to like everyone, but that doesn't mean I don't have friends or deserve to be made fun of.
Just because you're saying it anonymously doesn't mean it isn't you who's saying it.
So if you have something you'd like to say to me, please, go ahead. I might still disagree with you, but I'm allowed, just like you're allowed to disagree with me. Doesn't mean we have to call each other names.

Barry and I are back together!! Isn't that news absolutely thrilling?
Anyway, on Thursday was Barry, Czeslaw (who is good - but I can't believe he seems pleased about kissing Meaghan McCormack, but anyway), Apollo (EW), Basil (um, okay, but I'd obviously never snog him while in my right mind), Dempster (um... well, could be worse), and Jeremy. But none of that matters because Barry and I are together again and I don't know if it's official "boyfriend" and "girlfriend" or not but I don't quite care at the moment!
He said when we kissed on Thursday that he remembered everything he was missing, and that he missed me, and it was so romantic. We were so meant to be, I'm glad he finally remembered!

Well, I didn't too much mind the prank on Thursday, but I can understand why people would. Obviously not everyone I kissed was someone I would have wanted to, but at least they were all boys and at least we all know that nobody was really in complete control of themselves.
It's been a really lovely day today, though, hasn't it?

Well, in the past couple of weeks, we've found out an awful lot about the more private lives of our fellow students, haven't we? And just in time for Valentine's Day! I just hope that if Tremlett and "the ginger" (hi, Proudfoot! How are you today?) decide to repeat what they apparently did over the hols, they keep it far more private this time around. Really, nobody wants to feel nauseous on Valentine's Day, it's just completely wrong for the holiday.
And I think we can say somewhat similar things for most of their circle. "Girl" McCormack has been propositioning people over the journals, publicly, while Parkin isn't far behind (although she's at least saccharinely chaste in her overtures), and apparently some slag has been snogging a long list of upper-year boys, which happens to include Parkin's boyfriend. Maybe that's why she's been trying to find other outlets... as Gregson said, trouble in paradise, perhaps? Or, you know, trouble in whatever it is you would call it where the boys don't talk or shower and the girls make sad passes at other people to win attention from the negligent males they call their boyfriends. Maybe you should just move on, Parkin. I'm thinking completely in your best interest here.
There are certainly more, but I think I'll cut short my summary right here.
Oh, and you'd think people would, you know, realise that eating those candies makes you sing. Was the first little spontaneous melody not clue enough for you? It's getting pretty annoying, actually, all this bad singing and terrible rhyming everywhere. Oh well. We can't all be blessed with logic.

Oh, by the way! Heather, you didn't do what I expected but Basil, you look way better with your hair short. Personally I don't think you should let it grow out the way you had it ever again since it just looked like a sad mess, but you look far less scruffy now. A bit of a lighter colour and it'd be totally fine for us to be siblings in the play!
Speaking of, the play is going along well. Octavius and I are going to be so great, but I'm sure you all knew that already. You've got to stop running into the set pieces, though, Octavius, but I know that by the time the show goes up that's definitely not going to be a problem. It'll be perfect.

Did anyone hear anything about the new Danu album coming out next month? I heard it's going to be much better than the last one. I mean, that most recent album was really a letdown, of course, but I've heard that the new one is even better than her third album, which was, like, her definitive one - until now I guess! I'm so excited. Apparently she used a new producer -- the same guy who did Calliope's début album, and everyone knows how amazing that one was.
Oh, and I found out that the weird missing-underwear thing was because some disturbed House Elf was stealing a pair here and there from the Slytherin laundry but he's been reassigned to Hufflepuff so everything should be okay.
Also, this weekend's going to be great.

I am SO excited about the play!! I'm so pleased -- I really, really wanted the role. And Octavius, we're going to have so much fun! You're going to make a fabulous Orsino and the show is going to be so so great!
Staci, I'm really happy for you, too, since Antonio -- or I guess Antonia now, right? -- is a really good part! She rescues Sebastian and fights to protect him and everything. We'll even have scenes together!!
Also with Elsie on costumes and Heather and Elsie on makeup we're all going to look so fantastic. I can't wait!!!
Oh and also, Octavius, I heard your owl is having owlets. If that's true, can I have one of them? Please? I don't have an owl and it'd be so cute to raise a little one and it'd be really nice knowing that it came from a friend.

I like his full name!! They're just being ponces about it because they're jealous of everything else about him and his life. As they should be. I wish Octavius didn't dislike him so much. I don't think Octavius is jealous so much as Tremlett is, but it's just that Octavius and Barry don't get along.
WHY AREN'T ANY OF THEM STANDING UP FOR ME?? I can obviously stand up for myself but either Barry or Octavius should really be intervening on my behalf, SHOULDN'T THEY???

I saw a flier for the spring play in the corridor today! I didn't get a chance to read it because I was rushing to class, but it was there. I'm so excited! I'll definitely be trying out again, and this time I should get the lead automatically. No more saying "any named female role" or anything like that - I should just ask for the lead. And I encourage you all to try out, for the first time or again if you were in the play last autumn, or be on the technical crew! The people who work backstage are just as important as those of us on stage. Plus, it's a ton of fun most of the time. I'm sure this play will be more appropriately cast so long as people don't ask to be put in the wrong kind of role, and then we'll all be happy.
